Only 144 Pak fans to witness Mohali ODI

SAS Nagar, November 5 Only 144 fans from Pakistan will cross border to witness the India-Pakistan day and night match to be played at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium (PCA) on Thursday.

Giving information regarding this IS Bindra, President of the PCA, said, “Earlier, we were expecting 250 Pakistani cricket fans but the Pakistan Cricket Board through the High Commission had been asked to give tickets only to those fans who had confirmed hotel accommodation at Chandigarh/Mohali.” said Bindra

Bindra added that the left-over 106 tickets will be put on sale tomorrow at the PCA Stadium counter from 10 am. The left-over tickets belonged to the Terrace ticket category.

Addressing the mediapersons at PCA, Bindra said that the Indian Cricket Board has made it mandatory for its affiliated state associations to have their own cricket stadium in two years to host an international cricket match.

Giving details about the Board’s decision, PCA President remarked, “The Board (BCCI) took this decision at its recent meeting. The Board is giving subsidy and state associations are earning good amount of money, so they must have their own stadiums,” Bindra said venues like Guwahati ground, which hosted today's Indo-Pak encounter, will not be allowed to host a match in future. Bindra stressed that only cricket should take place at the Cricket Stadiums

“Vidarbha, Rajkot, Baroda, Kochi are among other venues which have been asked to build their own cricket grounds,” he added. Daljit Singh, Chairman of the BCCI Pitch Committee and PCA’s chief curator also pointed out that due to non-cricket activities the condition of the Guwahati ground has gone down.

Bindra said BCCI joint secretary M P Pandove had recently written a letter to the associations, saying that while pitches need to conform to the highest standards, they should have a “decent grass cover” too.
