Taking a step ahead, the students of Panjab University’s Indian Theatre Department are now set to learn Salsa. Full-attendance marking the one-hour salsa dance workshop, held on every Saturday and Sunday at the department for the last five weeks, “This is part of their guest lecture and is compulsory for both first and second year students to attend,” Anubhav, a Delhi-based Salsa trainer, tells us, all praises for the “30 talented learners”. Teaching them Salsa, a Latin American dance form on the contemporary dance tunes, “It includes both slow and vigorous dance moves,” he points out.
Ranjan Sehgal, participant, who enjoyed the workshop thoroughly, chips in, “Salsa is a kind of performing art and knowledge of any form of art is beneficial for us. Enriching and fun, the dance builds confidence and enhances personality.” With boys outnumbering the girls in the department, “We had girls from various departments of Panjab University and local colleges participating in this workshop,” signs off Anjum Batra, Department Representative of Indian Theatre, giving a scintillating performance.
